Hi there.
…
I’m Alex Godmas, a graduate at the Rhode Island School of Design (MDes - Adaptive Reuse), and I’m the founder and designer behind “gdm.”, an NYC-born, Milan-based high-end streetwear label.
Growing up in Slovakia, the brand carries the Eastern European influences with its raw, unfinished aesthetic. Established in 2018 as a “punk-wear” brand, “gdm.” focuses on pieces influenced by the punk rock and street culture with an “archival” look.
As I always say:
“Things have to fall apart before they come together.”
I explore and experiment with the concept of reuse, deconstruction & reconstruction. Most of our collections consist of custom or 1/1 pieces, designed and made out of thrifted or reused materials.
“Reuse, deconstruction & reconstruction.”
We break garments apart and make art out of it. All of the pieces are designed as unique art pieces that are meant to be worn, original and unique, giving you the ability to express your individuality. All garments are intentionally unfinished to fall apart as the wearer falls apart overtime.
They live with you and fall apart with you…
